Life-Choice Memoir
Here I provide an introduction to my life-choice memoir assignment and links to the relevant blog posts that served as part of my writing process.
When I got the assignment to write a life-choice memoir I was nervous. I've never had to write about a major life choice I made in my life. I had plenty of major life choices I made in my life I just did not know which one to use. Until I thought about which one I can go into deep detail about then it hit me. Softball. its always been in my life and it defiantly had many major life choice decisions. I decided to pick the most recent softball life choice. Which is when I decided to quit my softball tournament team called Pegasus. My blog post The Proust Questionnaire helped me because it made me realize that my greatest achievement was getting onto that team and I didn't know how I was suppose to quit something that was my biggest achievement.
I played on Pegasus for a year and a half until I decided to quit. I had to quit because I didn't feel I was getting what I deserved on that team. I had the friends but I didn't have the coaches that wanted me to succeed. Which was upsetting. Every memory I had was playing on that team. The first tryout I had to go to and the first game I ever played in and how nervous I was to meet new people since I was very shy and I didn't even know how to start a conversation.
It took me awhile and a couple drafts to finally get to where I want to be. When looking back to my first draft I made errors and it was not as focused as much as my last Draft. I hope I can learn how to be focused more in the future and learn how to stay in scene and give much more description.
